Well, I wouldn't trust Megumi Shimizu, not after her attitude yesterday. But having a bad attitude isn't the same as being a killer.
My instinct would be to question the ones who did vote on why they chose that person. I'm sure they were just afraid...even without Widget, I could sense so much fear from Flame Princess. But there has to be a reason it was those people, right?

Date: 2014-01-30 12:47 am (UTC). . .that is a good point. Aside from people possibly just voting for the hell of it, there was absolutely zero reason for anyone to cast a serious vote. Of course, some people could be lying about it, but highly doubt it at this point.

Date: 2014-02-04 04:48 am (UTC)But otherwise...I spent some time last night trying to analyze the votes. Jason and Mary believed us right away. Aoi, Lithuania, and Elizabeth expressed reservations, but besides Aoi, they all voted for Megumi.
The other killers, when they heard us bring up Megumi, would have been on guard. On the one hand, they would have been hoping we had just been lucky, but on the other, they knew there was a good chance this was the detective in action. They wouldn't want to get caught defending Megumi if the detective was involved.
The most likely action of a killer would be to stay quiet, but vote for Megumi once it was clear she was going to be voted out. I find it hard to believe the other killers would simply not vote, not when the numbers made it obvious Megumi would die anyway, but we can't rule out sentimentality.
If my reasoning is right, the most suspicious votes were Coco, Poland, Flonne...as well as Elizabeth and Lithuania. If I'm being completely objective, I'd add that Klavier can't be ruled out and neither can I, since both of us knew in advance there was more to it than a hunch.
That doesn't mean I think any of those people are killers, but that's the best I can do.

Date: 2014-02-04 05:03 am (UTC)That all makes sense. . .Flonne at the very least has made her presence known, though the productiveness of it is up for debate. Prosecutor Gavin, too, and I'm trying extremely hard not to let my bias cloud my judgment.
That all said, of those listed, do any strike you as being likely to be the doctor? Whoever was targeted tonight was protected, so it's likely they had a connection to one another. And if it was the detective. . .these killers are pretty darn sharp when it comes to singling them out.

Er, yeah, second hand from the detective, and who knows where they got it from. They probably have more information about the whole spirits, thing. But--ah! Something you said really stands out!
Hypothetically, let's pretend Gavin, Jason, Mary, myself, you, and Bart could all be suspected as being the detective. As you said, we're all pretty much on the same page. The three of us here know it's because we've been talking together, no one else does! I don't know what the others reasoning was, aside from understanding we make sense, but either way, it puts them out in the "open" and draws attention to themselves immediately.
Now, let's look at others that talked to us, like Aoi or that country, who tried to argue despite there not being much to argue with--Miss Megumi unfortunately didn't have any friends, and there were zero other leads. What if it wasn't because they were hesitant, but more like they needed it to look like they were genuinely convinced? They might have been digging for information, is what I'm saying.
Gah, I'm spinning my words around in circles! I'd just wager one of the 'hesitant' outspoken types is definitely another of our killers.
