THUSIA APP
Dec. 30th, 2011 12:57 amCharacter Name: Apollo Justice (aka Badger)
Canon: Apollo Justice: Ace Attorney
AU/OC/Previous Game: Previous Game (Sabra la Tau)
Age: 23/24
Appearance: Fairly average looking! A bit on the short side, but not incredibly so, around 5'8ish, and surprisingly well built despite his profession, but very lean--has a lot of lean muscle, kept up even in the underground due to all the cleaning and running around he was prone to. Has a very youthful face, and can easily be mistaken as a teenager. Brown hair and brown eyes. His hair is gelled up into two spikes--this is not natural, he manually has to do this every so often. It will become flippy and normal looking hair if he doesn't. Coming from an underground death cave, he's a bit paler than he was before, though being out in the California sun has helped some. He has a few tattoos, but they tend to be constantly covered by the bright red business suit he wears.
Cause of Death: Shot in the head
Impact of Death: A lot of annoyance, mostly because you can't be a lawyer when you're dead, but is surprisingly zen! He had prepared for this scenario with Shinichi Kudo, and beforehand, had finally gotten a bit of information about his past family life from his mentor and current employer, Phoenix Wright. His only regrets are leaving behind his friend and assistant, Trucy Wright, never telling her that he was her older brother, and not being able to see the looks on his murderer's faces when they are found guilty in court.

Character Info:
A young man burning bright red with a passion for Justice, that's...well, Apollo Justice! Apollo is (or was) a newbie defense attorney, who is simply thrilled to be a lawyer. He applies his career to almost every thing he does in every day life, and is not shy about stating his profession. Proud and sometimes obnoxiously loud, Apollo wears his heart on his sleeve and doesn't hesitate to give his two cents. Even if he's inner monologuing, it's pretty clear what he's thinking on his expressive face.
Though his desire to have justice and fairness served keeps him going, Apollo is not at all an optimist. He has a very cynical side he forgets to keep in check--he's just as quick to insult someone mentally as he would out loud. Compared to his companions, he tends to act as the straight man, making snide remarks about the ridiculous antics all around him, and points out the most logical scenario. This comes into play with his several of his clients--Apollo hardly ever goes into a case thinking his client is 100% innocent. He believes in them just enough to wager helping them is the right thing to do (and the fact that he needs money), but rather than relying on blind faith, he looks to facts and hard evidence to guide the way to the truth. Even when it came to his own boss and mentor, Apollo put his feelings aside to have him convicted.
Despite this 'professional' attitude, Apollo is surprisingly easy to excite and rile up in general. He gets especially enthusiastic when trying to help someone innocent, or when he's caught on to someone's secret he can't help but prod about. He gets flustered when being put on the spot suddenly, and often reacts to embarrassing situations in a flail-like manner. He's also unnecessarily loud at times, yelling to emphasize his points, or just throwing in a ear piercing OBJECTION for the hell of it. His over enthusiasm causes him to make a mistake or two sometimes, but he recovers quickly. Thanks to his experiences in Sabra La Tau, he isn't as punch-happy as he used to be, but it is still quite easy for outright jerks to get under his skin, and will defend himself if he can't avoid the person.
Through out the game, we also see a gradual evolution of Apollo's independence. He tends to naturally look for authority figures to follow, and doesn't mind taking a hint or two from a friend. However, if plopped into a scenario he has to drive on his own, he takes the reigns and pushes through (after a bit of whining), only occasionally stumbling when hitting a roadblock. He can have a hot head, but he knows when he's outclassed and when to back down--this awareness keeps him from being a full out clumsy shounen protagonist, and helps keep him alive in general. With four big trials under his belt, Apollo finally evolves from a complete rookie to a competent lawyer capable of standing on his own two feet, trusting his own instincts over others.
Old Game Info: Sabra La Tau and Post Game Information
Apollo was dropped into the ~magical~ world of Sabra La Tau, which was basically an underground death cave where "blanks" (characters with amnesia) were force to play in games, both harmless and dangerous, to recover their memories and essentially provide energy for the gods (Judges) running the place. Sometimes the "earth" would consume blanks, so that was a fun phobia he experienced. Given the name "Badger," Apollo found himself clashing with the culture of Sabra la Tau fairly often--he is very much Lawful Good and often refused to take more drastic measures to survive. Thankfully most of Monoceros (his team, full of unicorns) shared this sentiment, though they were often thrown under a bus because of it. Being a normal human, he was also taken back by meeting so many other worldly creatures (demons, dragon men, digimon, vampires), and while initially panicked and fearful, he finally learned how to chill the hell out.
Unfortunately, he also picked up quite a few lasting fears. Monoceros had a nasty habit of dying in several games, especially games where they were directly targeted by others early on. Due to this, rather than developing a fear of death, Badger eventually became used to it, and more so developed several fears of CAUSE of death. Currently, being eaten alive is his biggest fear (he had been eaten by zombies, werewolves, flesh eating centipedes, and his own teammate). At one point he also had his heart ripped from his body by Ticky Mikk (Slick) of D-Gray Man, prompting a slight fear of him. He was revived via his partner team ripping the heart from their teammate, X-23, a mutant with self regenerating powers, and placing it inside of Badger. Being from X-23, the heart has the ability to regenerate on hits own.
As time went on, Monoceros eventually patroned themselves to Mirror--a Judge that pretty much every other team hated or feared in some way, though she was fairly nice, if teasing, and doting toward Monoceros. The many negative reactions of this caused Badger to become a bit withdrawn, bitter, paranoid, and highly skeptical of most people's "good intentions." While some of this was repaired due to lasting friendships, and he eventually mellowed out, his paranoia and bitterness still persists, though he tries very hard to keep it in check, usually going about it in a flippant way. Throughout these times he also managed to cling to his morals, even helping people he very much rather punch in the face. His feelings eventually imploded and he became of paradox of continuous stress and zen. On the plus side, his experiences helped a lot of his old personality shine through--he gradually became more independent and take charge of situations he could control in order to help keep his team and important people safe.
Eventually, Badger finally managed to escape from Sabra la Tau, his only wish being for his canonmates to make it out as well--Phoenix Wright, especially. Due to their situation, Wright finally told Badger/Apollo about his long lost relatives--Trucy Wright, Phoenix's daughter, was revealed to be Apollo's half sister, and he was also told his mother was alive. Badger took this with great surprise and some frustration, but given that they had just escaped a terrible murdercave, he couldn't be too angry about the delayed information.
Not soon after escaping, he made contact with his former teammate and closest friend there, Kudo Shinichi, learning about the death of his acquaintance, Kaito Kid. Having already known about Shinichi's canon situation (being poisoned and shrunken into a seven year old body), he insisted on helping him in his investigations despite the deadly risks. Doing some research, he eventually learns that his former boss, Kristoph Gavin, had a connection to the "Black Organization" Shinichi spoke of--years ago defending one of their henchmen accused of using Atroquinine for murder, a deadly poison Gavin was fond of as well. This sparked Apollo's desire to help Shinichi bring them down even more.
Over a year passed, and Kudo and Justice worked together on several cases while investigating the men in black, even being accompanied by the now freed Mirror (now known as Phaniea) on occasion. He eventually earns the trust of a big wig in the Black Organization, agreeing to be their defense attorney, though secretly plotting to deliberately get them a Guilty verdict with the help of the prosecution. At the conclusion on the second to last day of the trial, the Black Organization finally gets wind of this, and hastily tries to take out both Apollo and the prosecution. Apollo is shot in the heart after leaving the courtroom, but due to X-23's heart, manages to stay conscious just enough to raise alarm. This saves the prosecutor, but gets Apollo shot in the head for his trouble. Thankfully, the evidence he and Shinichi had prepared before hand was already safe, and with these attempted murders, the Black Org were pretty much guaranteed to be taken down regardless of his death.
Abilities (before Powercap): Bracelet: Apollo has a family bracelet that basically acts as a lie detector. This tends to trigger his Perception powers--he has the ability to pretty much zoom in on a person for an Extreme Close Up, and is able to pinpoint nervous twitches and habits, no matter how obvious or near invisible. He also has the heart of a mutant, and it can regenerate on its own (if stabbed in the heart or somewhat, the initial chest wound won't heal completely, though it slows, so he could still possibly bleed to death). Has a decent right hook??
Abilities (after Powercap): Nooone really. Other than the above, he is a completely normal human. Perception powers will never be used without ooc permission.
Items Brought In: His bracelet.

IC Survey:
Introduce yourself in a few sentences.
--erk, now? Ah! A-ahem! Hello!! My name is Fine, defense attorney, and I'm Apollo Justice! Gah, I mean, my name is Apollo Justice, defense attorney, and I'm just fine, thank you! Well, actually I'm a bit nervous. I'm not asked to be interviewed very often. . .or ever, really. I'm usually the one asking questions! And it was probably obvious, but "defense attorney" isn't part of my name, it's just the job title. I hope I'm able to provide the information you're looking for.
Describe yourself physically.
I wouldn't say I'm super handsome or anything, but I'm pretty decent looking. I've got a unique style some narrow minded people just can't appreciate.
What was your childhood like?
Well, that's not personal at all. It was fairly normal, all things considered. I was raised in foster care, but the people there were pretty awesome and supportive, I owe them a lot. By the time high school rolled around though, I had saved up enough to live on my own, and then eventually went on to law school. How? Ah, well! Let's just say I'll be paying off student loans for a quite a while. . .
Who is most important to you, and why?
Right now? . . the Wrights, definitely. Mr. Wright and his daughter, Trucy. I'm glad I was able to see them again. I was a little reluctant to admit it before, but we really are like family. A. . .slightly dysfunctional one, but what can you do. I've made some good friends over the years as well, like Mono--er. Some buddies from overseas! Like Shinichi Kudo, and Almaz. They helped me realize things about myself I might never have changed before. . .and they're always there to help me out. I'll do the same for them. Ugh, that's kind of sappy, huh? Let's see. . .Prosecutor Gavin and Detective Skye are pretty important to me to, as, ah, odd and colorful as they tend to be, heh. Don't let either of them know it, but there were more than few times that I would have crash landed in the courtroom without their help.
What's your biggest pet peeve?
Do I have to name just one? Liars, people deliberately omitting vital information, idiots who just won't listen, certain former rock stars making a mockery of the courtroom with their stupid lyrics. . .
Do you consider yourself an optimist or a pessimist? Why?
If I had to pick, the latter. It's not that I don't want to be optimistic, but in the long run it's better to plan for the worst. If it all works out, hey, it's a great day!
Where, or how, did you learn your most important skills?
Hah. . .um, well, my mentor and first employer was Kristoph Gavin. You may have heard of him--he used to be known as the Coolest Defense in the West. He taught me everything I know about being a lawyer, basically. But in truth, Mr. Wright--er, Phoenix Wright--taught me what it truly means to be a Defense Attorney. I had looked up to him in my younger years, and it's strange being able to still learn from him today, questionable methods aside. His daughter has helped me a lot too! Er, though cheap magic tricks aren't an every day essential.
Do you think world peace is possible?
Lasting world peace? No way. For one, we wouldn't have a court system if that was the case. There's always going to be conflict and war, unfortunately. It's just human nature. The brief periods of downtime are nice and should be cherished though.
Do you tend to argue with people, or avoid conflict?
I try to avoid conflict, but I almost always end up in an argument or debate. It's really boggling how stubborn people can be at times.
What turns you on the most?
. . .UM! T-that was kind of out to the blue! How is that relevant to anything? Is this some sort of scam?
Anything else you'd like to say?
No seriously, I'm kind of weirded out here. At least you had enough sense not to put the question after the Physical Description section. I don't think anyone would have continued on unless they were really desperate for a blind date!
